The Opportunity

The role of the Banana Inspector is to inspect the plantation and banana plants to ensure healthy fruit production compliance with industry standards and government standards with respect to quarantine, quality, food safety and bio-security. This will be achieved by developing and maintaining effective communication and consultation with Farm managers and farm hands.

Skills

You must have at least a Diploma or higher qualification and at least 2 years relevant job experience.

Position Duties:

You will need to undertake the following tasks;

• Consultancy and planning with Farm Managers
• Ensuring Biosecurity measures are maintained across entire farm
• Assessing banana cultivation measures such as de-budding, de-leafing, de-suckering and dieseling to maintain plant health and bunch quality
• Identify faults in Banana quality to determine causes of defects and make recommendations to owner manager
• Organising and conducting farming operations, such storing, grading and packing of bananas.
• Organise, coordinate and supervise farm hands in banana packing facility.
• Training staff as to correct procedures in determining banana quality and grade
• Explain apply and enforce occupational health and safety standards in the packing facility
• Auditing and monitoring quality procedures on farm to ensure compliance with required standards
• Checking Final product to ensure meets the required standards
