The Client

Our client is located just south of Cairns, responsible for supporting the local community through a range of services including the provision of childcare.

The Opportunity

An experienced Daycare Assistant will be required for a minimum 6-month contract to help oversee this small but busy local daycare centre.

You will be required to liaise on a regular basis with the Daycare Manager and other relevant staff to ensure the centre is running smoothly and is consistent with Legislative requirements and guidelines.

Base hours per fortnight: 76 hrs

• Option for full time only: work 80 hours per fortnight, according to the roster, in order to accrue 1 paid RDO per month.
• Option for full time or casual: work 76 hrs in 9-day per fortnight

About You

To be considered for this position you will have

• You must be able to drive to and from Yarrabah area daily (under an hour from Cairns, little over a half hour from Gordonvale)
• Must have a current open driver’s license.
• Must have a current open Blue Card.
• Child Care Diploma or Certificate 3 in Children’s services or Administrative accreditation, including financial management.
• Familiarity with the NQF, Education & Care Services Act 2013 (QLD), Education Care Services National Law (QLD) Act 2011.
• Current First Aid certificate
• Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team, with evidence of self-management, time management, priority and achieving planned outcomes.
• Wide knowledge of and the ability to network and collaborate with community, non-government and government services.
• Demonstrated Experience working with Aboriginal & Islander Children 0-5 years and their families.
• Professional knowledge and experience in the delivery of Children’s Services, including knowledge of childcare philosophy and childcare practices for the 0-5 year age group.
