POSITION

We have a full-time position of Fruit Farm Worker in Palmerston, QLD 4860.

SKILLS

The business requires the following qualifications and experience for the Fruit Farm Worker position:

• Hold at least an AQF (or equivalent) Certificate I; Or
• Have at least 1 years’ experience (minimum of 35 hours per week).

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW

As a fruit farm worker, you will be required to work in a team environment to complete the allocated tasks in a timely and efficient manner. The daily tasks may change from day-to-day depending on weather, market conditions and requirements of the farm and its current production cycle.

With the focus on Bananas – harvesting, bell-injecting, de-leafing, de-suckering, bagging, de-handing, grading, clustering and packing

POSITION DUTIES

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Picking fruit and ensuring the freshness of product through the correct handling and learned knowledge of the product.
• Unloading fruit if you are allocated to work in the packing shed.
• Packing fruit into boxes for dispatch from the farm if your allocation for the day is the packing shed.
• The packing shed also includes the following duties: stacking, stickering, tray labelling and light cleaning duties.
• Field work which might include but is not limited to irrigation checking, planting, weeding and plant maintenance.
• Maintaining and cleaning farming infrastructure and equipment such as sheds, fences, plant, and water supply and irrigation systems.
• Operating and maintaining general farm machinery and machinery to cultivate, fertilise, spray, and harvest fruits.
• Nursery work which includes planting, weeding, cleaning, and other light duties as delegated by the Nursery Manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience in this field of work is beneficial, however, not essential. The ability to start early and work any day of the week is required. Candidates must be physically fit, self-motivated and willing to undertake physically demanding, repetitive work in a range of weather conditions. Opportunities to further upskill with provided training are available if selected.

• Must be strong and physically fit, able to lift up to 20kg
• Must not be colour blind
• Must possess the ability to follow instructions

SALARY

The successful applicant will receive a salary from $65,000 to $75,000 per annum based on qualification and experience.
