Dairy Cattle Farm Operator

POSITION:

We have a full-time role available for a Dairy Cattle Farm Operator in Atherton 4883.

SKILL LEVEL:

The role requires you to hold at least a relevant AQF Cert II or III (or equivalent), or 1 year of recent and relevant work experience in lieu of the formal qualification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Dairy Cattle Farm Operator, you are responsible for managing the care and well-being of the cattle, overseeing milking operations and ensuring optimal feed and health management for the cattle. You will maintain detailed records on livestock, production and farm activities, ensure proper farm maintenance and comply with health and environmental regulations. You will also manage and operate farm equipment. This role requires working independently and collaboratively within a team to ensure efficient farm operations and high-quality milk production while adhering to food safety regulations.

REPORTING:

You will report to the Manager.

DUTIES:

  • Patrol, inspect, and report on the condition of Cattle
  • Provide Cattle with feed and water
  • Assist in maintaining the health and welfare of Cattle
  • Administer necessary treatments to Cattle if necessary
  • Muster and drive Cattle to milking sheds and between paddocks to ensure sufficient feed is available
  • Wash and clean udders
  • Operate milking plant and equipment
  • Report equipment not operating as per usual
  • Perform fencing, yard maintenance, and general station work when necessary
  • Record relevant instrument information i.e. Milk VAT temperatures and cow numbers
  • Aware of general scientific terminology and assists with processes such as machine maintenance, artificial insemination etc.
  • Ensure food safety regulatory requirements are met

  • Efficiency in prioritising daily tasks to ensure smooth farm operations

SALARY:

The position offers an annual salary of $65,000 - $75,000 negotiated based on your experience.
