POSITION

Full time position available for a Disabled Carer in Cairns, QLD 4870.

SKILLS

You must have at least a relevant Certificate III and at least 12 months of relevant work experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of a Disabled Carer is to provide professional care and support services, to help maintain client independence and to assist them with activities of daily living, meet their goals, household and family support. We aim to inspire and lead positive change, shaping a brighter and more inclusive future for all.

TASKS

  • Provide essential assistance with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility support.
  • Assist clients in safely navigating their environment, using mobility aids, and escorting them to appointments or activities.
  • Support clients with household chores, including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and shopping. Ensure meals align with dietary needs and provide feeding assistance when necessary.
  • Facilitate community involvement, social interaction, and recreational activities to help clients maintain a fulfilling lifestyle.
  • Develop and implement support plans tailored to each client’s specific needs, encouraging self-reliance and engaging clients in decision-making regarding their care.
  • Maintain a secure and healthy environment, ensuring clients' safety during daily tasks and adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Follow and implement individualised support and service plans to ensure high-quality care.
  • Provide personal care services, including medication administration, as required.
  • Undertake client transport duties as rostered and/or directed.
  • Assist clients throughout the night as needed.
  • Maintain accurate client records, including progress notes, care routines, and health changes, using paper-based or IT-based systems while adhering to privacy requirements.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals as needed to ensure comprehensive client care.
  • Follow workplace health and safety practices, including manual handling and safety procedures, and conduct periodic checks to remove hazards.
  • Report any workplace incidents, hazards, or suspicions of client abuse in accordance with organisational procedures.
  • Contribute positively to the team environment, supporting colleagues as required to maintain a respectful and effective workplace.
  • Use IT systems for communication, record-keeping, and efficiency of information flow.
  • Maintain required accreditations and participate in ongoing self-development activities relevant to the role.
  • Accurately record hours worked and daily services performed on the designated timesheet or phone app.

ANNUAL SALARY

$65,000 - $75,000 per annum based on experience.
