POSITION
We have a full-time position of Cook in Cairns, QLD 4870.
SKILL LEVEL
The business requires the following qualifications and experience for the Cook position:
- At least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate IV; and
- 12 months of relevant fulltime work experience; or
- 5 years of relevant part-time experience (at least 20 hours per week).
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Cook, your primary responsibility is to ensure that the restaurant consistently delivers high-quality meals in a timely and efficient manner. You will play a key role in food preparation and production, working closely with the chef to execute dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
Your role involves maintaining the highest standards of food quality, freshness, and hygiene while adhering to all food safety regulations. Additionally, you will contribute to the overall efficiency of kitchen operations by keeping your workstation organised, assisting with inventory management, and supporting a clean and safe working environment.
KEY DUTIES
You will need to undertake the following duties:
- Handle food, kitchen equipment, and utensils properly and safely.
- Prepare and cook food items according to the chef’s specifications and standardised recipes.
- Ensure that all dishes are attractively presented and meet restaurant quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in your workstation, storage areas, and kitchen equipment.
- Inspect and assess ingredients, including sauces, meats, seafood, vegetables, and pre-cooked items, ensuring freshness and preventing spoilage, with special attention to perishable items.
- Conduct pre-service checks to ensure the kitchen is clean, organised, and fully stocked before each shift.
- Regulate oven, grill, wood-fire pizza oven and other cooking equipment temperatures as required.
- Season food appropriately during cooking and marinate meats as necessary, ensuring proper preparation for future shifts.
- Monitor and enforce kitchen sanitation practices, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- A solid understanding of raw materials, food quality control, and production techniques.
- Familiarity with food preparation regulations, industry standards, and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
SALARY
The salary offered will range from $65,000 to $75,000 per annum determined on qualification and experience.
