POSITION:
Full time position available for an Agricultural Mobile Plant Operator in Kununurra, WA 6743.
SKILLS:
Have at least a relevant AQF II or III or at least one year of relevant work experience.
RESPONSBILITIES:
The agricultural mobile plant operator is responsible for the efficient and productive management of farm operations by using specialised machinery and equipment. The role requires the operation of a variety of agricultural plant machinery to prepare land, manage crops and carry out essential farming processes.
DUTIES:
- Prepares and positions agricultural machinery prior to field operations, ensuring all equipment is correctly set up for the specific task, terrain, and crop conditions. This includes pre-start checks, adjusting attachments, and verifying operational readiness.
- Operates machinery such as tractors, ploughs, cultivators and seeders to clear land, till soil and establish crops. Ensures the land is suitably prepared to promote healthy germination and plant growth.
- Calibrates and adjusts machinery to optimise performance during operations. This includes setting and monitoring implement speed, depth, and height, as well as adjusting material distribution or collection rates to ensure efficiency and accuracy in planting, fertilising, spraying, and harvesting.
- Applies fertilisers, herbicides, and pesticides using specialised machinery. Ensures even coverage and compliance with safety and environmental standards. Regularly monitors crop conditions and modifies operations as needed based on field observations and agronomic requirements.
- Operates harvesting machinery to collect crops at peak maturity, ensuring minimal crop loss and damage. Coordinates with storage and logistics teams to efficiently transfer harvested produce to storage or transport.
- Conducts regular maintenance of plant and equipment, including lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and inspection of parts. Performs minor mechanical repairs and reports major faults to supervisors or mechanics.
- Maintains detailed logs of daily operations, machinery use, input applications, and field conditions. Prepares work reports documenting progress, issues encountered, and any corrective actions taken to support farm management and compliance needs.
- Operates all plant and equipment safely and in accordance with workplace health and safety regulations. Maintains required licences or registrations for operating certain machinery and handling chemical applications.
- Implements weed control measures in sandalwood plantations, including row weed control.
SALARY
$65,000 - $75,000 based on experience
