POSITION

We have a full-time position of Shipwright in Portsmith, QLD 4870.

SKILLS

The business requires the following qualifications and experience for the Shipwright:

  • Hold at least an AQF (or equivalent) Certificate III; and
  • Have at least 1 years’ experience or 3 years of experience where no formal qualification.

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW

The Shipwright will play a critical role in delivering high-quality marine refit and repair services across a range of commercial, defence, and recreational vessels.

REPORTS TO

You will be required to report to the General Manager, the 2IC and Leading Hands.

POSITION DUTIES

You will need to undertake the following duties:

  • Photographing works before, during and at completion of works for the purpose of quality reporting – uploading photographs to the Tradify app.
  • Interpreting technical drawings and vessel specifications to guide repair processes for marine vessels of varying size and complexity.
  • Measuring, marking, and preparing construction templates to ensure accuracy in cutting and assembling and repairing vessel components.
  • Fabricating and assembling vessel components and internal frameworks using materials such as timber, aluminium, steel, fibreglass, and composite materials to meet customer specifications.
  • Carrying out structural repairs, refurbishments, and refits, including damage assessments, removal of compromised components, and precision reconstruction in accordance with industry regulations and client requirements.
  • Constructing and fitting marine interiors such as cabinetry, internal linings, doors, seating, flooring, glazing and customised joinery to meet specifications for private, commercial, and defence sector vessels.
  • Working within TCS’s Quality and Safety Assurance Systems, completing project documentation, including Closing Reports, Material Certifications, and client compliance checklists.
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety, actively participating in toolbox meetings, adhering to safe work procedures, and ensuring compliance with marine industry standards and defence contract obligations.

SALARY

The successful applicant will receive a salary from $80,000 to $95,000 based on qualification and experience.
