POSITION

We have a full-time role available for a Residential Care Officer in Paramatta Park, QLD 4870.

SKILLS

The role requires you hold at least a relevant AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of a Residential Care Officer is to provide high-quality care, supervision and support to either children or individuals with disabilities living in group homes or institutional settings. Responsibilities include assessing client needs, developing individualised care plans, and implementing educational, training, and support programs to enhance their well-being and independence. The officer works collaboratively with families, service providers, and community organisations to ensure the delivery of holistic and person-centred care. The officer also assists the individual in their daily routines of personal care, medication administration and more. They ensure that the client’s residential environment is cleanly and upholds company policies.

POSITION DUTIES

You will need to undertake the following duties:

  • Identify and evaluate the individual needs of clients to design and implement tailored care and support programs.
  • Conduct interviews and assessments to understand clients’ circumstances and the scope of their challenges.
  • Track and review client progress, maintaining accurate documentation of outcomes and observations.
  • Connect clients with appropriate external services and agencies for specialised support.
  • Analyse local community resources to identify service gaps in areas such as health, housing, welfare, education, and employment.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures to protect vulnerable residents.
  • Offer emotional and practical support to individuals and families within residential care settings.
  • Assist with daily routines including personal care, medication administration, meals, hygiene, all tailored to the individual’s needs.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, case notes, and funding proposals for submission to internal stakeholders and external agencies.
  • Support residents in developing life skills and fostering independence.
  • Ensure the residential environment is maintained at a clean, safe and comfortable standard.
  • Teach clients relevant daily living skills such as budgeting, shopping, cleaning, cooking, etc.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with knowledge on how to handle situations with empathy and cultural sensitivity
  • Comfortable working across day and night shifts in a residential setting
  • Committed to promoting and preserving the dignity and independence of older adults
  • Understanding of health and safety practices
  • Ability to remain calm and focused

SALARY

The position offers an annual salary of $70,000 - $80,000 negotiated based on your experience.
