Precruitment is proud to be partnering with a longstanding Local Government client who represents 15 unique island communities in the Torres Strait, Far North Queensland to recruit their next Manager – Fuel and Fleet.

Reporting to the Executive Director Corporate Services, you will be responsible for the strategic and sustainable management of Council’s fleet services and fuel supply to community and internally. You will build and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external key stakeholders and provide proactive leadership to the Fuel and Fleet team. In this role, you will also work closely with the Management Team to represent Council both internally and externally.

About You

  • Experience in a similar role in a commercial environment or in Local Government.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing best practice fleet management procedures, including database maintenance, workload planning, and asset utilisation.
  • Familiarity with fuel distribution and usage and cost monitoring including community subsidies.
  • Knowledge of Local Government legislation, standards, system and process requirements.
  • Deliver projects within budget, ensuring value for money.
  • Manage all departmental procurement to ensure quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams ensuring positive team outcomes.
  • Strong WHS focus.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Current 'C' class driver's license.
