Our client is seeking a Payroll Manager/Payroll Team Leader who can blend compliance with care, accuracy with agility, and leadership with legacy across our forward-thinking government department. Your Day-to-Day Will Include
- Orchestrating the end-to-end payroll process for all department staff.
- Interpreting and applying legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements with precision.
- Maintaining rock-solid data integrity across payroll systems while upholding confidentiality.
- Preparing and lodging accurate reports and payments.
- Serving as the go-to expert for payroll queries from employees and external stakeholders.
- Driving audits, compliance checks, and continuous improvement projects.
- Supporting and coaching your payroll team with empathy, clarity, and purpose.
You Bring
- Deep experience managing payroll in complex environments — ideally in the government sector.
- Mastery of payroll legislation, enterprise agreements, and HR/finance integration.
- Technical savvy with payroll systems and the full Microsoft Office Suite.
- Laser-sharp attention to detail and time management.
- A commitment to discretion and confidentiality in all things people and payroll.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate sensitive queries with professionalism.
Desirable but Not Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, HR, or a related field.
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Previous experience working within government or the public sector.
