POSITION
Full time position for a Truck Driver is available in Stuart, QLD 4811.
SKILL
Have at least an AQF Certificate II or Certificate III and at least one year of relevant full time Australian work experience. At least 1 year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification listed above.
RESPONSIBILIES
As a Truck Driver, you are responsible for operating company prime movers to transport bitumen tankers to various roadside and plant delivery locations. You may also be required to tow customer-owned tankers or trailers when necessary. You will be allocated your own truck and be responsible for maintaining the truck in clean and tidy condition and perform basic maintenance as needed. As representatives of the company, you will play a crucial role in upholding our reputation by demonstrating a high level of highway driving skill, professionalism, and courtesy. A strong safety-first attitude and respectful behaviour towards customers and all road users is essential to the role.
DUTIES
- Safely manoeuvre vehicles into position for efficient loading and unloading operations including bituminous products and oils.
- Load and unload vehicles using appropriate discharge of equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures during loading, unloading, and transportation activities.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and quality checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
- Accurately estimate and manage load weights to comply with legal load limits and ensure proper weight distribution. Ensure vehicles do not exceed dimension or mass limits.
- Secure hatches and valves to prevent loss during transit.
- Verify and complete all relevant loading and delivery documentation.
- Transport bituminous products to various job sites as required.
- Participate in routine alcohol and drug testing in compliance with company policy.
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, equipment, and tankers—including regular washing and perform basic servicing when necessary.
- Complete quality checks, daily pre-start checklists, fault reports, and other relevant paperwork accurately and on time.
- Follow the most efficient and approved route to delivery destinations unless otherwise directed by management.
- Heat bituminous products within safe temperature ranges as per operational guidelines.
- Climb ladders to access hatches, handle heavy hoses and operate valves for product transfer.
- Correctly store all equipment, including hoses, after use.
- Always wear and correctly use the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain a high standard of safety.
- Comply with work, health, safety and environment regulations and procedures.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Current Multicombination Licence
- Dangerous Goods Licence
- Knowledge of road rules and regulations
- Building and Construction White Card
- Ability to competently read and write
- Willingness to work a reasonable amount of overtime when necessary
SALARY
An annual salary of $65,000 - $75,000 based on experience.
