POSITION

Full time Event Organiser position available in Cairns, QLD 4870.

SKILLS

You are required to have at least a relevant diploma qualification and at least 12 months of relevant full time work experience. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification listed above.

RESPONSIBILTIES

The Event Organiser is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, promotion and delivery of a range of events and promotions. This role plays a key part in ensuring a high-quality guest experience, promoting the venue’s services, supporting both internal and external marketing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners and patrons.

DUTIES

  • Organise and promote venue events, stage games and facilitate social hour on the back deck and pool area.
  • Oversee promotional efforts CBD cafes, retail shops, and travel shops through flyer distributions.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the Business Development Manager on nightly activities and promotions to ensure continuous improvement and the delivery of high-quality, engaging offerings.
  • Consult clients and coordinate vendors regarding available event services and choices.
  • Negotiate function packages and services within company and budget guidelines
  • Set up and venue spaces for nightly promotions and themed events
  • Maintain cleanliness and ensure safety standards are upheld in all areas.
  • Keep the manager on duty informed of the day’s event schedule and any adjustments.
  • Manage audio-visual setups, including lighting transitions and sound calibration throughout the evening and conduct 6 pm and 7 pm PA announcements.
  • Manage AV aspects on the back deck and main room:
    • Switch back deck lights to club settings after 9 pm.
    • Set nighttime sound levels by 7:30 pm and adjust as needed throughout the night.
    • Report any sound or lighting maintenance issues to the manager on duty.
  • Ensure the venue is appropriately set up for nightly promotions, and the working area is clean and orderly.
  • Utilize the back deck and main room microphone to create awareness for nightly promotions during early evening, mid-evening, and leading up to the event.
  • Work closely with DJs and performers to coordinate the timing and execution of games, announcements, and entertainment segments. Plan and coordinate the timing of stage games with the DJ and align with the band's finishing time.
  • Assist with participant check-ins and registration for stage games and help manage the flow of promotional activities.
  • Lead pack-down procedures once promotions conclude and confirm completion with the manager before ending the shift.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external businesses during visits for daily promotions
  • Create marketing promotions for social media by gathering video content of venue during peak times, games, enjoyable moments.
  • Follow the venue content & social media guide to actively post on Instagram stories and promote events.
  • Follow lawful and reasonable directions from your employer.
  • Update daily promotional posters within the hostel, identifying and removing outdated posters or promotions.

SALARY

An annual salary of $75,000 - $85,000 based on experience.
