The Opportunity:

This isn’t just another job. It’s a chance to step into a role where your work has real impact.

Join a progressive Local Council delivering critical infrastructure across a remote Queensland region. Based in Cairns, you'll oversee a broad program of works with a hands-on focus on project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and contract management.

This role suits a hands-on Project Manager who thrives on autonomy and relationship building. You’ll manage road, civil, housing, and community infrastructure projects from planning through to completion, working closely with internal teams, consultants, and the local community.

You’ll be supported by an experienced, down-to-earth leader who values initiative and collaboration, and you’ll work alongside a small team that genuinely enjoys what they do. The culture is positive, the work is meaningful, and your contribution will be felt across the entire community.

Benefits:

  • Salary of $105,000–$120,000 + 12% super (based on experience)
  • Five weeks annual leave
  • Travel opportunities to unique and remote parts of Queensland
  • Support through education and training
  • Genuine work-life balance within a close-knit, collaborative team
  • The chance to make a real impact in a regional community
  • 2 year fixed term, full time opportunity in local Government

The Role:

  • Cairns-based with travel averaging 1 week every 6–8 weeks — sometimes more, sometimes less (flexibility essential)
  • End-to-end project delivery across multiple infrastructure types
  • Contract management, contractor oversight, and process improvement
  • Build relationships with internal teams, Councillors, and external partners
  • Play a key role in maintaining a positive, solutions-focused culture

What We’re Looking For:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in infrastructure project delivery
  • Qualification in Project Management
  • Strong contract management background (AS4000 or AS2124)
  • Confident stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Council experience valued but not essential
