POSITION
Full time position for a Cook available in Mena Creek, QLD 4871.
SKILL
The role requires you to hold at least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate IV and one year of relevant full-time experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cook is responsible for providing a memorable guest experience through the creation of high-quality meals in a timely manner. The role involves preparing and presenting high-quality dishes to recipe standards and ensuring food safety, hygiene, and presentation requirements are met. You will manage daily mise en place, monitor stock and inventory and maintain a clean, well-organised kitchen. The position requires collaboration with kitchen and bar staff, catering to dietary needs, training junior staff, and ensuring smooth, efficient service that supports our reputation for exceptional customer experiences.
DUTIES
- Prepare and cook food to chefs’ specifications and recipes, ensuring all dishes meet quality, flavour, presentation, and temperature standards, including accommodating dietary requirements.
- Set up daily mise en place within appropriate timeframes for efficient kitchen operations and portion, label, and date ingredients in line with food safety standards.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of menu items and specials, contribute ideas for new dishes and ensure attractive food displays.
- Monitor and maintain hygiene, sanitation and safety standards in line with legal and business requirements, including proper food handling, equipment use, chemical safety and PPE use.
- Inspect ingredients and prepared items for freshness, flavour and spoilage prevention; check and regulate cooking equipment temperatures and season food appropriately during preparation.
- Supervise and participate in meal service, ensuring timely order delivery, effective communication and smooth kitchen operations; train, delegate and support other kitchen staff and apprentices.
- Monitor and manage stock and inventory levels, assist with ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storage and report shortages or discrepancies.
- Clean and maintain work areas, kitchen equipment and storage spaces; report malfunctions and ensure equipment is safe, functional and efficient.
- Conduct daily temperature and cold room checks, complete required logs, and ensure compliance with all food safety procedures.
- Ensure you promote, develop and extend business interests and reputation through the provision of exceptional customer service.
- Complete all paperwork accurately, legibly and clearly.

- Ability to supervise and provide directions to Kitchenhands.
- Display a high standard of guest service, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently with a diverse range of people.
- Demonstrated skills in managing time and organising own work to ensure highest standard of guest service is provided.
- Well presented, enthusiastic, positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- A flexible approach to work and guest requirements with willingness and ability to demonstrate initiative and accept responsibility.
- Ability to follow directions.

SALARY
$65,000 - $75,000 per annum based on experience.
