Please note that the position is not based in Townsville, it is based in a nearby regional location. The successful candidate will be required to relocate and will be supported with accommodation (unfortunately, there are no FIFO/ DIDO options available).

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing day-to-day human resources and payroll operations, ensuring compliance with legislation and supporting positive outcomes for staff across the organisation. You’ll provide guidance to leaders on employee relations, industrial matters, and change management, while also mentoring and leading a small HR team.

The role

• Supervising 3 staff across HR and payroll
• Manage daily HR functions, including employee relations, payroll, and learning and development activities
• Provide expert advice on workplace legislation, industrial relations, and organisational change processes
• Support leaders and staff through employee relations matters, including investigations and performance issues
• Represent the organisation in meetings and provide accurate, timely reporting as required
• Build strong working relationships with supervisors to support positive outcomes for staff and business units
• Contribute to audits, reviews, and improvements within HR systems and processes

About You

We’re seeking someone who can bring:

• Operational HR experience, including payroll
• Strong knowledge of awards, legislation, and compliance frameworks
• Strong communication and relationship-building ability
• Local Government experience (desirable)
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to live and work in a regional location
