POSITION
Full-time position for a Diesel Motor Mechanic available in Kununurra, WA 6743.
QUALIFICATION
The role requires you to hold at least:
- a relevant AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or
- a relevant AQF Certificate IV or
- three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
EXPERIENCE
In addition to the relevant qualification, at least three years of work experience is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Diesel Motor Mechanic, you’ll work in a specialised environment providing high-quality maintenance and technical support to a range of clients with a range of makes, models and applications.
REPORTING
You will report to the Operations Manager.
DUTIES
- Identify and diagnose faults in diesel engines and mechanical systems using manual inspection and diagnostic tools.
- Dismantle engines, transmissions, steering systems, suspension, and other key components for inspection and repair.
- Check individual parts for wear, defects, or damage.
- Repair or replace faulty or worn-out parts such as pistons, bearings, brake systems, and fuel injection components.
- Use service manuals and manufacturer specifications as guidance.
- Reassemble engines and mechanical systems after repairs.
- Test and adjust mechanical parts to ensure correct performance and functionality.
- Carry out routine servicing such as oil changes, lubrication, coolant top-up, and engine tune-ups.
- Check and replace filters, belts, and fluids to maintain optimal performance.
- Perform tasks that ensure compliance with environmental and pollution control regulations.
- Check exhaust systems and engine emissions.
- Inspect heavy vehicles for roadworthiness and safety.
- Liaise with parts and sales to handle supply chain management issues.
- Manage project including timelines, budgets, maintenance schedules.
- Actively engage with customers to grow the business.
- Prepare reports or issue roadworthiness certificates or identify required repairs to meet legal standards.
- Operate computer-based diagnostic systems to assess engine and system performance.
- Interpret fault codes and data for accurate troubleshooting.
- Keep up to date with latest agricultural engineering principles and new technology.
