POSITION

Full-time position for a Barista is available in Cairns City QLD 4870.

SKILLS

This role requires you to hold at least a relevant AQF Cert III or above + 12 months of relevant employment experience. If no relevant qualification, at least 3 years of relevant employment experience is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Barista, you are responsible for delivering exceptional coffee experiences and ensuring the smooth operation of the cafe. You will maintain beverage quality and consistency, uphold hygiene and safety standards and contribute to a welcoming and professional environment for customers. You are also responsible for supporting colleagues, promoting the cafe’s products and services and assisting in training new or less experienced staff to maintain consistent service quality. Strong customer service skills, product knowledge and attention to detail are essential in this role.

TASKS

• Welcoming and serving customers, effectively handling dine-in and takeaway orders, phone inquiries, reservations and emails
• Collecting payment and operating cash registers and POS systems while following proper cash management procedures
• Preparing and serving a variety of beverages, including espresso-based drinks, smoothies, milkshakes, juices and tea
• Selecting and grinding coffee beans, operating coffee-making equipment, frothing milk and creating latte art where appropriate
• Selling and serving light snacks such as muffins, pastries, sandwiches and fresh fruit
• Maintaining cleanliness of the coffee station and café, completing daily and weekly cleaning duties according to hygiene protocols
• Monitoring and managing inventory on a weekly basis, including coffee beans, milk, syrups and other supplies
• Working effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a friendly, professional and approachable demeanor
• Communicating effectively with team members and management to ensure smooth service during peak periods

SALARY

An annual salary of $65,000 - $75,000 based on experience.
