Level 3 System Engineer/Project Lead - Remote

Our client is seeking a highly skilled professional to join a progressive IT services team as a Level 3 Systems Engineer / Technical Project Lead. This role blends hands-on engineering with project leadership and client engagement, offering the opportunity to shape infrastructure solutions and drive technology outcomes across a diverse client base. The is a remote job opportunity that can be based anywhere in Australia but preferably on the east coast.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end IT projects, from scoping and planning through to implementation and handover, while providing expert-level technical support. You’ll work closely with clients to design and deliver tailored solutions, mentor junior technicians, and ensure service delivery meets the highest standards.

Your expertise will span Microsoft 365 technologies (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Azure Active Directory, Defender for Office 365), as well as infrastructure, networking, and cloud solutions. You’ll also play a pivotal role in ensuring security, compliance, and business continuity for clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of IT infrastructure and cloud projects from initiation to completion.
• Scope, design, and implement solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premise environments.
• Manage project budgets, risks, and client communications.
• Provide high-level troubleshooting and technical support across server, desktop, and cloud environments.
• Administer and optimise Microsoft 365 technologies, including identity, security, and collaboration tools.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Partner with sales and service teams to scope technical requirements and identify opportunities.
• Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring client satisfaction at all stages of engagement.

Skills & Experience

• Relevant IT qualifications (Diploma or higher)
• 5+ years’ experience in systems engineering, network operations, or IT project delivery.
• Strong technical expertise across Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Azure AD).
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure upgrades, networking, and security solutions.
• Proven track record in scoping and delivering technical projects to deadline and budget.
• High-level problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage directly with clients.
• Additional relevant IT certifications are desirable but not essential.
