A great opportunity has become available for a motivated Technical Officer to join a supportive government team, for an initial 6 months with possible extensions, focused on delivering high-quality civil infrastructure for the community. This role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to be involved in projects that directly improve roads, drainage, bridges, and other essential assets. You can be based anywhere in Southeast Queensland as hybrid/WFH is available but there will be some site work required.
The Role
In this position, you will contribute to a wide variety of works that help maintain and improve essential assets across the region. Key aspects of the role include:
- Conducting inspections and condition assessments of roads, bridges, drainage, and other civil infrastructure.
- Assisting with the preparation of designs, estimates, plans, and reports for upcoming projects.
- Supporting survey and design tasks for roads, stormwater, and drainage projects.
- Updating and maintaining government asset systems and records.
- Responding to enquiries from staff, contractors, and the community with practical technical advice.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes
Qualifications/Experience
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Qualifications and/or practical experience in civil engineering, surveying, or a related field.
- Knowledge of road and drainage construction and maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with safety, quality, and environmental standards for infrastructure works.
- Strong computer literacy, ideally with experience in design and asset management systems.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders
Job Benefits

- $52-$53 per hour (negotiable) plus 12% super.
- Hybrid/WFH work arrangement available but there will be some site visits required.
