Manager Planning & Environment – North West Queensland

The Opportunity
Join a progressive Local Government in North West Queensland as Manager of Planning & Environment. In this key leadership role you will be responsible for driving the Planning and Environment functions across the region. Reporting to the Director Infrastructure and Environment, you will lead a multidisciplinary team overseeing town planning, environmental health, waste management, and compliance functions to support sustainable growth and community wellbeing.

• $115K to $125K per annum + super

About You
You’re an experienced planning or environmental professional with a strong understanding of Local Government operations, legislation, and regulatory frameworks. You’re a confident leader who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, with the ability to balance strategic direction, operational management, and stakeholder engagement.

You will bring:
• Tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Science, or related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in planning and/or environmental health within Local Government
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
• Experience managing teams, budgets, and complex workloads
• Proven ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and policy
