POSITION
Full Time Accountant located in Cairns QLD 4870
SKILLS
The business requires the following qualifications and experience for the Accountant position:
- At least a relevant AQF Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; and
- Have at least 1 years of relevant work experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
The accountant will play a pivotal role in a whole foods’ distribution company, ensuring accurate financial records, efficient processes, and compliance with regulatory standards. They will be responsible for a range of duties including financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and assisting with audits.
POSITION DUTIES
- Review and implement processes formulating budgetary and accounting policies for subordinate staff to use.
- Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and company policies. Have an awareness and understanding of the content of these to be able to readily discuss with directors or governing bodies. Where there are discrepancies, conduct financial investigations or audits and prepare advisory reports surrounding the discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to management to support decision-making.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, accurate recording of transactions, and efficient collection processes. Ongoing examinations of the business operating costs and any income or expenditures to ensure these are within reason.
- Maintain the general ledger, reconciling accounts, posting journal entries, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Analyse costs associated with product distribution, identifying areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maximizing tax efficiency. Providing advise to managerial staff regarding the business structure and needs reporting needs specifically relating to the structure, as well as financial advice on any upcoming business plans
- Ensure any internal control systems are upheld, this includes arranging and maintaining any accounting software and having an in-depth knowledge on the software programs allowing them to guide or monitor any subordinate staff usage.
- Correspond with a range of stakeholders within and outside the business.
REQUIRED SKILLS
The role requires a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
SALARY
Annual Salary of $75,000 - $85,000 based on experience
