POSITION

We have a full-time position for an Underground Surveyor available in Cloncurry, QLD, 4824. This position is offered on an 8/6 roster from Townsville or Brisbane. Accommodation is provided onsite at the Mine. Local candidates from Cloncurry or surrounding communities can commute via bus from Cloncurry and are encouraged to apply.

SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree or above qualified in Surveying, Geomatics, Spatial Science, or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an underground hard-rock mining environment.
  • Proficient in Deswik / Surpac (or equivalent survey/mine planning software).
  • Strong technical knowledge of underground development and production surveying.
  • Competence in Laser scanning surveys, void modelling, and volumetric reconciliation.
  • Strong numeracy, computer literacy, and data management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manual QLD driver’s licence.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and police clearance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Underground Surveyor is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and reliable survey services to support safe and productive underground mining operations at the mine.

This role undertakes all development, production, Void Scans and surface survey activities, maintains the site’s spatial control systems, and ensures mine plans and data models remain accurate and up to date. The position contributes to operational efficiency, mine planning, statutory reporting, and continuous improvement across the Technical Services team.

Key responsibilities include:

Survey Operations: Provide day-to-day underground survey services to support development and production activities.

Mine Plans, Data Quality & Reporting: Maintain and update underground mine plans to reflect current and planned workings.

Technical & Operational Support: Provide timely survey information, guidance, and advice to mining supervisors, engineers, and geologists.

Safety & Compliance: Comply with all company policies, procedures, safety systems and relevant legislation.

Leadership (as required): Support the Senior Mine Surveyor with statutory duties and technical projects.

SALARY

The salary offered will be $140 000 to $180 000 per annum plus applicable Quarterly Production Bonus negotiated based on your experience.
