POSITION
Full time position available for a Disabled Carer in Cairns, QLD 4870.
SKILLS
You must have at least a relevant Certificate III and at least 12 months of relevant work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Disabled Carer is responsible for engaging with a diverse range of young people and adults to provide professional care and support services. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living, meeting goals and facilitating social activities and community participation. By delivering person-centred care tailored to individual needs and preferences, the Disabled Carer ensures a safe and comfortable living environment. Additionally, they assist with grocery shopping, meal cooking, and help facilitate skill-building and social opportunities. Building trusting relationships with clients, families, and support networks is central to the role, along with maintaining accurate records and fostering clear, respectful communication.
POSITION DUTIES
- Provide person-centred support to participants in accordance with individual care plans.
- Support and assist clients with home care, personal support, domestic assistance, washing, meal preparation, cleaning and social support.
- Support participants to access services and actively engage with the community by accompanying individuals during daily activities, community outings, appointments and recreational activities.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including vacuuming, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe, tidy environment.
- Assist with grocery shopping and prepare and cook meals in accordance with dietary needs and preferences.
- Assist participants to develop, maintain, and enhance skills, capacities, and lifestyles that are valued and inclusive within the community.
- Arrange and facilitate social activities, community participation, and skill-building opportunities for clients to promote inclusion and personal growth.
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support to promote mental health and wellbeing.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with clients, families, support networks and stakeholders within the community to improve outcomes aligned with participant goals.
- Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of participant support strategies in alignment with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and progress notes in accordance with organisational policies.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, families, team members and other community services.
- Comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and report hazards, incidents, or concerns to management.
- Support colleagues as required to ensure continuity of care.
- Actively promote and uphold the organisation’s values and mission.

SALARY
$70,000 - $80,000 per annum based on experience.
