The Opportunity

Are you passionate about community engagement and strategic communication? Do you want to be a part of meaningful infrastructure projects that shape Queensland's future? We're seeking a dynamic Program Engagement Officer to join our Northern District team in Townsville.

Embedded within the Customer and Stakeholder Management (CSM) team, you will provide critical engagement and communication support to ensure the smooth execution of these initiatives. Your work will directly impact how our community experiences and supports these major infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute targeted engagement strategies to inform and consult key stakeholders and the broader community.
  • Develop and maintain project web pages and manage online engagement platforms.
  • Prepare a variety of proactive communication materials including media releases, newsletters, flyers, and construction notifications.
  • Track stakeholder issues and correspondence to support responsive engagement.
  • Maintain data in consultation management systems to ensure transparency and consistency.


About You

You are a confident communicator with experience in stakeholder engagement, public relations, or community consultation—ideally in the government or infrastructure space. You can manage multiple priorities, work collaboratively, and write with clarity and purpose for different audiences.

  • A degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector, will also be highly regarded.
