Training and Development Officer – Regional Queensland Council
The Opportunity
A Regional Queensland Council is seeking a Training and Development Officer to coordinate and manage workforce training and development across the employee lifecycle. This role plays a key part in ensuring Council’s people have the skills, qualifications and compliance they need to safely and effectively deliver services to the community. Reporting to the Manager Human Resources & Safety, you will work closely with HR, WHS and operational teams to coordinate training, maintain registers and systems, manage funding and reporting, and support the delivery of learning programs across the organisation.

About the Role
You will coordinate and manage Council’s workforce training and development framework, ensuring organisational capability, compliance and effective training delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
• Coordinating training and development activities across the employee lifecycle
• Supporting WHS Advisors with WHS training administration and compliance reporting
• Maintaining training systems, registers and the Safety Management System
• Managing licences, competencies, qualifications and renewal tracking
• Liaising with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and internal stakeholders
• Coordinating course bookings, logistics, trainer engagement and certification
• Administering and improving the e-Learning system
• Developing and maintaining training data, reports and dashboards
• Managing training funding, grants, subsidies and acquittals
• Providing general administration and coordination to ensure continuity of training operations
About You
You are an organised and analytical professional who enjoys coordinating people, systems and data to support workforce capability and compliance.
You will bring:
• Background in HR, Safety, Training, Administration or a related field
• Strong Excel skills and an interest or experience using Power BI or reporting tools
• Ability to manage training data, registers and compliance documentation
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Confidence liaising with training providers, managers and employees
• Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles
• Current Driver’s Licence and Police Clearance
This role would suit both experienced training administrators and early-career candidates looking to build capability in HR, WHS, or workforce development.
