POSITION

Full time position available for a Disabled Carer in Cairns, QLD 4870.

SKILLS

You must have at least a relevant Certificate III and at least 12 months of relevant work experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of a Disabled Carer is to provide professional care and support services, to help maintain client independence and to assist them with activities of daily living, meet their goals, household and family support. Through our dedication to personalised service, collaboration with local communities, and a commitment to implementing innovation, we aim to raise the standard for excellence in NDIS services by bringing new and existing developments. We aim to inspire and lead positive change, shaping a brighter and more inclusive future for all.

TASKS

  • Ensure that support plans and service plans are understood, followed and result in high quality services being provided to our clients.
  • Provide services and supports as required and as specified in established processes and plans, across some or all of the following broad functions:
    • Personal care including personal hygiene, medication, and assistance with feeding as required
    • Community and social participation
    • Skills development and/or skill maintenance activities
    • Companionship and conversation
    • Household management
    • Mealtime management
    • Assist clients throughout the night
    • Undertake client transport duties as rostered/or directed from time to time
  • Make a positive contribution to the team, assisting work colleagues as required to ensure a pleasant workplace environment
  • Maintain all required client documentation in accordance with the procedures, using either paper based or IT based recording systems and maintaining required privacy requirements
  • Use IT Systems for communications and efficiency of information flow, including but not limited to email
  • Maintain all required accreditations, as well as undertaking self-development activities appropriate to working within the sector
  • Undertake client transport duties as rostered and/or directed from time to time
  • Perform other duties incidental to key duties and/or coordination tasks as directed from time to time
  • Record hours worked and daily services performed on the fortnightly Timesheet or through the phone app
  • Report all client changes or issues to the office immediately and document activities and results in client’s notes each shift
  • Follow organisational workplace health and safety practices, including but not limited to manual handling and safety procedures
  • Report Workplace Health and Safety incidents according to our procedures
  • Report any incidents or suspicions of client abuse following our procedures
  • Conduct periodic check to remove hazards from work areas.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to engage effectively with a variety of people
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices as well as follow instructions
  • Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and work under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail and an unquestionable commitment to confidentiality
  • Well presented, positive attitude, strong work ethic and a strong willingness to learn
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Ability to learn and effectively use various software and systems as required
  • Be physically fit with unrestricted ability to lift, bend, stretch and twist

SALARY

An annual salary of $65,000 - $75,000 based on experience.
