Senior Civil Estimator - Darling Downs Region

Our client is a respected civil construction company with a solid track record delivering infrastructure projects across Queensland. Known for building strong client partnerships and maintaining high safety and quality standards, they are now seeking a Senior Civil Estimator to take ownership of the pricing and pre-contract function across a diverse civil project portfolio.

Job Overview

You will lead the full estimating process from document review to submission, producing accurate and commercially competitive bids. This includes interpreting plans, preparing first-principles costings, securing subcontractor pricing, assessing risk, contributing to bid strategy, and supporting seamless handover to delivery teams in line with company systems and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Managing end-to-end preparation of tenders across a range of civil construction projects
• Interpreting engineering documentation and technical reports to inform pricing strategy
• Producing precise quantity take-offs and structured cost breakdowns
• Developing preliminary construction methodologies and project programmes
• Sourcing, reviewing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Evaluating commercial risks and identifying value opportunities within each submission
• Supporting successful project handovers to operational teams
• Contributing to quality, environmental and safety documentation within the tender process

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum five years’ experience estimating civil construction and civil estimating projects
• High-level proficiency in expert estimating software, scheduling software and Microsoft Office
• Exposure to on-site project delivery, supervision or construction management
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or Construction Management (desirable)
• Strong commercial judgement and advanced numerical capability
• Ability to read and interpret complex plans and technical documentation with accuracy
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence engaging professionally with clients, consultants and subcontractors
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and regulatory compliance
