POSITION
Full time position is available for a Diving Instructor in Cairns, QLD 4870.
SKILLS
The role requires to have at least an AQF or equivalent Certificate IV and at least 1 year of relevant work experience. The role also requires you have the following:
- Current PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor qualification and licence or SSI Open Water Instructor qualification and licence
- Dive Medical and First Aid Certificate
RESPONSIBILITIES
Our Dive Instructors are responsible for teaching and training individuals to safely participate in scuba diving. Within this role, you will provide educational and practical instruction to students, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become competent and responsible divers. You will also guide dives, lead trips, and promote safe and sustainable diving practices. Our Dive Instructors provide a memorable guest experience in a highly professional and safe manner.
DUTIES
- Deliver safe, professional, and engaging dive and snorkel experiences in accordance with dive standards, including introductory dives, courses, briefings and guided tours.
- Assess participant eligibility by checking medical declarations, waivers, certifications, age requirements, and conducting in-water risk assessments to ensure all participants are low risk and properly equipped.
- Provide comprehensive safety, equipment-use, and marine life interaction briefings to ensure an enjoyable and educational guest experience.
- Maintain constant supervision of guests in and out of the water, respond promptly to emergencies, and ensure rescue equipment is readily accessible.
- Prepare, operate, clean, and maintain dive, snorkel, and safety equipment, ensuring all gear and vessel areas are serviceable and compliant.
- Assist with vessel operations including deck setup, dinghy launches, line handling, lookout duties and accurate guest headcounts at all times.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by welcoming guests, assisting with equipment and meals and managing complaints professionally.
- Support crew operations through teamwork, clear communication, induction and training of new staff and volunteers and adherence to uniform standards.
- Promote a positive workplace culture by maintaining professional conduct, respectful relationships and a friendly, approachable attitude.
- Ensure compliance with all Workplace Health & Safety, Safety Management System, SSI, legal, and company policy requirements
- Identify, report and where possible rectify hazards, incidents and equipment issues, ensuring incident documentation is completed accurately.
- Represent the company professionally at all times and contribute to maintaining cleanliness, presentation standards and the company’s reputation.

SALARY
$65,000 - $75,000 per annum based on experience.
