Bakery Manager – Cape York
The Opportunity
A Remote Queensland Local Council is seeking an experienced Bakery Manager to oversee the day to day operations of its community bakery. This role plays an essential part in ensuring the consistent supply of fresh baked goods while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and customer service.
Reporting to the Executive Manager of Community Services, you will lead a small team and manage all operational aspects of the bakery from production and inventory to financial processes and staff development. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute directly to community wellbeing while building local workforce capability.

About the Role
You will manage all bakery operations to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with food safety standards.
Key responsibilities include:
• Overseeing daily bakery operations and production
• Ensuring availability of a suitable range of fresh baked goods
• Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and minimising waste
• Maintaining HACCP food safety standards and sanitation requirements
• Managing financial processes in line with Council procedures
• Supervising, mentoring, and training bakery staff
• Scheduling staff to ensure efficient operations
• Providing high-level customer service
• Implementing marketing initiatives to support bakery growth
• Preparing reports and meeting operational targets
About You
You are an experienced bakery professional with strong leadership capability and a commitment to quality, safety, and community service.
You will bring:
• Experience managing bakery or hospitality operations
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and compliance
• Ability to supervise, train, and support staff
• Inventory and financial management skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Desirable:
• Certificate III in Baking or equivalent experience
• Food Safety Supervisor certification
• Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
