Our client is a well-established and reputable engineering and construction organisation delivering mechanical HVAC projects across North Queensland. With a strong pipeline of secured work and a reputation built on safety, integrity, and quality outcomes, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical HVAC Supervisor to join their leadership team.
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a key leadership role where you will play a pivotal part in coordinating site operations, supporting upper management directives, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Role Overview

The Mechanical HVAC Supervisor is an 80% supervisory and 20% hands-on role, with the majority of time dedicated to supervising operations. The role involves guiding and supporting a crew of up to 10 mechanical tradespeople and apprentices while directing several projects running simultaneously. At times, you may be responsible for overseeing up to four construction projects, with periodic travel required to various sites throughout North Queensland.

Working closely with senior leadership, the role centres on managing daily site activities, forecasting and allocating resources effectively, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, and monitoring project outcomes. A strong emphasis is placed on fostering a positive team environment, maintaining high performance standards and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and safely.

Job Offering

  • Attractive annual salary of $125,000 plus 12% superannuation (negotiable for the right candidate)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a team of up to 10 mechanical tradespeople and apprentices to lead and build a high performing team

  • Translate strategic objectives from senior leadership into practical site-based actions to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously (up to four at a time), ensuring delivery aligns with safety standards, program deadlines and allocated budgets.
  • Coordinate daily site activities by allocating labour, organising materials and equipment, and managing subcontractor engagement.
  • Develop forward workforce and project schedules to maintain consistent productivity and prevent resource bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including management, estimators, administrative teams, and WHS advisors, as well as external suppliers, contractors, and clients.
  • Prepare and monitor project documentation and reporting to deliver clear updates on operational progress and financial performance.
  • Uphold Workplace Health and Safety obligations by conducting inductions, leading pre-start meetings and toolbox talks and maintaining compliance records.
  • Track project outcomes against budget forecasts and performance benchmarks, taking corrective action where required.
  • Assess potential risks across projects and implement preventative strategies to minimise disruption.
  • Support team capability through coaching, on-the-job training, and strong leadership to enhance performance and career development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Trade qualification in HVAC or Refrigeration is ideal or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising mechanical teams within construction or industrial environments
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Solid understanding of WHS legislation and site compliance requirements
  • Ability to interpret drawings, project specifications, and schedules
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving capability
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence
