Plumber & Gas Fitter - Cape York
A Cape York Local Government is seeking an experienced Senior Plumber / Gasfitter to lead the delivery, compliance and maintenance of water reticulation, wastewater infrastructure and gas services across the community.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring essential services operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with legislative requirements. You will oversee a small team, provide technical advice, and drive improvements across water and wastewater systems that directly impact community wellbeing.

You will lead and manage plumbing and essential services operations, ensuring compliance and high service standards.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading daily maintenance and scheduled works for water and wastewater infrastructure
• Providing technical advice and recommending infrastructure improvements
• Ensuring compliance with Drinking Water Quality Management Plan requirements
• Overseeing wastewater treatment operations and reporting
• Conducting compliance inspections of plumbing, drainage and gas installations
• Monitoring SCADA systems and maintaining operational documentation
• Managing gas bottle supply and installation services
• Leading toolbox talks and maintaining a strong safety culture
• Supervising and mentoring staff and apprentices
• Ensuring accurate record keeping and reporting
You are a highly experienced plumbing professional with strong leadership capability and technical expertise in water and wastewater systems.
You will bring:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience maintaining water and sewer infrastructure
• QBCC Occupational Licence – Plumbing & Drainage
• Gas Work Licence
• Certificate II or III in Water Operations (or willingness to obtain)
• Certificate II or III in Wastewater Operations (or willingness to obtain)
• Construction White Card
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence
• Strong knowledge of legislative compliance and regulatory standards
• Ability to supervise and mentor staff
