POSITION

A Full-time position for a Sheetmetal Worker is available in Bohle QLD 4818,

REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

You are required to hold at least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate III including two years of on-the-job training, or a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate IV or higher qualification. In addition, you must have at least one year of relevant work experience. Alternatively, a minimum of three years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Sheetmetal Worker, your primary role would be to fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal components for various engineering projects. This would involve working with materials such as steel, aluminium, and copper to produce items like ducting, enclosures, and structural supports. Given our focus on sectors like renewable energy, resources, and mechanical engineering, your work would contribute to infrastructure projects requiring precision fabrication and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Reports to the Industrial Services Manager

POSITION DUTIES

  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine fabrication requirements, materials and measurements.
  • Select and prepare appropriate metal materials such as stainless steel, mild steel, galvanised iron, aluminium and copper in accordance with job specifications.
  • Measure, mark out and lay out metal stock using templates, gauges and precision measuring instruments.
  • Cut sheet metal using hand tools and powered equipment including shears, guillotines, drills and other fabrication tools.
  • Shape and form metal components using folding and bending machines, rollers, presses and hand tools to achieve required dimensions and profiles.
  • Assemble fabricated components into finished products using welding, riveting, soldering, brazing and other joining techniques.
  • Finish fabricated items by filing, polishing, sanding and cleaning to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Install fabricated sheet metal components and structures on-site where required.
  • Carry out maintenance, modification and repair of sheet metal components and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers and other trades to ensure fabricated components integrate correctly into broader mechanical or infrastructure systems.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and ensure all fabrication and installation activities comply with relevant safety standards and company policies.

SALARY

Annual salary of $75,000 - $85,000 based on experience.
