POSITION
Full time position available for an Architectural Draftsperson in Cairns, QLD 4870.
SKILLS
The role requires you to have at least a relevant AQF diploma or equivalent and 12 months of relevant work experience. At least three years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification above.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Architectural Draftsperson is responsible for interpreting architectural drawings and preparing sketches, working drawings and technical documentation using drafting software. The role involves coordinating drafting schedules to meet project deadlines and liaising with builders, contractors, suppliers and clients to ensure accurate design outcomes. Additional duties include conducting site visits to verify measurements, preparing quotations, performing basic calculations and estimates, maintaining product and market knowledge and ensuring project records and administrative tasks are kept up to date.
DUTIES
- Assist with project planning, design development and documentation.
- Interpret architectural drawings, building regulations, and relevant codes of practice to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Prepare preliminary sketches, working drawings and detailed technical specifications for construction and cabinetry projects.
- Produce, update, and revise plans, maps, charts and technical drawings using drafting software and established documentation standards.
- Coordinate project work programs and manage drafting schedules to meet project deadlines and organisational goals and work within established project timelines and achieve performance objectives set by management.
- Liaise with builders, contractors, suppliers and consultants to support project coordination and ensure design accuracy.
- Perform routine technical calculations, cost estimates and preliminary time scale assessments for projects.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information to produce drawings, assist with design selection and all other details as required during the design process.
- Provide quotes to prospective clients in the time frames as set by the Manager in the Sales Process Flow Chart.
- When necessary, conduct site visits to verify measurements, collect site data and gather information required for accurate design documentation.
- Liaise with suppliers and ensure your product knowledge is kept up to date to advise customers.
- Maintain an understanding and knowledge of competitors through regular competitor analysis and market trends.
- Attend networking events, make sales calls and send emails to acquire new leads as required
- Follow the weekly planner and ensure all required office files and records are updated as set by the Manager.
- Attend and participate in weekly team meetings.
- Maintain a well-groomed and business-like appearance.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Ability to understand plans, legends, scales etc to accurately provide quotes
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively to exceed client expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work unsupervised and manage own time, set priorities, plan and organise work to achieve set objectives efficiently and effectively within set timeframes.
- Ability to liaise with a wide range of individuals and the ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers.
SALARY
The salary offered will be $75,000 - $85,000 per annum negotiated based on experience.
