POSITION
We have a full-time position available for a Dental Assistant in Smithfield, QLD 4878.
SKILLS
The role requires you to have at least a relevant AQF Certificate III or equivalent and at least one year of relevant work experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Dental Assistant is responsible for supporting both patients and dental practitioners to ensure the efficient delivery of care. Responsibilities include welcoming patients, preparing them for procedures, confirming personal and medical details, and explaining treatments. The role involves assisting during procedures by organising instruments and equipment, anticipating the clinician’s needs, and providing support with suction and other tools. The role also involves taking and processing X-rays, maintaining strict infection control through cleaning and sterilising equipment, and ensuring a hygienic clinical environment.
DUTIES
- Greet patients, prepare them for dental procedures, verify personal and medical information, and explain upcoming treatments while addressing any initial questions.
- Assist dental practitioners by preparing and organising instruments, medications, and equipment required for procedures.
- Anticipate the need of the dental practitioner during treatments and provide instruments and materials promptly and efficiently.
- Position patients correctly for X-ray procedures and process and develop radiographs as required.
- Assist the dental practitioner by using suction equipment and water sprays during dental procedures.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilise dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control standards.
- Maintain a sterile clinical environment to prevent cross-contamination and ensure strict adherence to hygiene protocols.
- Provide patients with oral hygiene education, including proper brushing and flossing techniques, and deliver post-treatment care instructions.
- Perform routine maintenance and care of dental equipment and instruments.
- Undertake reception duties such as scheduling appointments, managing phone calls, and responding to patient enquiries.
- Maintain and update accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
- Process billing and payments and perform general administrative duties as required.

SALARY
The salary offered will be $65,000 - $80,000 per annum negotiated based on experience.
