Procurement Support Officer

Temporary Procurement Support Officer role with a State Government Department – great hourly rate and immediate start.

The Opportunity

A State Government Department is seeking a motivated and detail-focused Procurement Support Officer to join their team. This role is responsible for supporting procurement activities across the region, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and align with best practice, compliance requirements, and value-for-money outcomes.

Working closely with operational staff and stakeholders, you will provide purchasing, administrative, and contract support while contributing to the continuous improvement of procurement processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with procurement or administration experience who thrives in a structured and fast-paced environment.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality customer service and acting as a key contact for procurement enquiries
  • Supporting purchasing, procurement, and contract management activities
  • Processing purchase orders, work orders, and field release orders for goods and services
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of procurement procedures, guidelines, and documentation
  • Maintaining document control in line with quality assurance processes
  • Undertaking procurement-related research, analysis, and reporting activities
  • Supporting procurement training and induction programs, including preparation of materials and coordination of sessions
  • Assisting with contractor meetings, including scheduling, minute-taking, and presentation support
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of procurement legislation and departmental requirements
  • Promoting procurement best practice across the organisation
  • Contributing positively to team culture and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You are a reliable and organised administration professional with strong attention to detail and an interest in procurement and contract support.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in procurement, purchasing, or administrative support roles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work flexibly across different teams and functions
  • Understanding of procurement processes and contract management (highly regarded)
  • Previous Government experience (highly regarded)
