POSITION

We have a full-time position for a Fixed Plant Maintenance Fitter available in Cairns, QLD, 4870.

SKILLS

You are required to hold at least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate III, including two years of on-the-job training, or a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate IV or higher qualification. In addition, you must have at least one year of relevant work experience. Alternatively, a minimum of three years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of a Fixed Plant Maintenance Fitter is responsible for managing breakdowns, preventative maintenance, and improvement for manufacturing operations. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical principles and the ability to interpret technical drawings and diagrams.

REPORTS TO

You will report to the Site Manager/Coordinator.

TASKS

The position will require you to perform the following tasks:

  • Carry out general and routine maintenance on plant and equipment.
  • Install and commission new manufacturing equipment and/or plant equipment modifications.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machinery, welding, soldering or brazing parts to fix or replace parts.
  • Regular inspections and maintenance on machinery and equipment to be able to identify faults, malfunctions or wear and tear.
  • Assisting in ensuring regular maintenance programs are carried out in accordance with the maintenance plans, and to the correct standard.
  • Clear understanding of drawings and specifications to determine suitable and correct material, methods and sequence of operations.
  • Diagnosing faults and malfunctions with diagnostic tools, testing equipment and technical manuals.
  • Form metal stock and casting using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane bore and drill metal.
  • Ensure that stock and supplies used are logged against the work order.
  • Conducting inspections to ensure all machinery and equipment meet the safety standards and regulations.
  • Quick responses to emergency breakdowns and carrying out repairs quickly and efficiently to minimise downtime.
  • Work with other tradesmen to ensure work is complete on schedule.
  • Ensuring all statutory requirements, such as safety standards are met and recorded.
