POSITION
We have a full-time position for a Computerised Numerical Control (CNC) Machine Operator available in Forestville, SA 5035.
SKILLS
The role requires you to have at least a relevant AQF Certificate II qualification or equivalent and at least 1 year of work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNC machinery, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures, engineering drawings, and workplace health and safety requirements. The role involves preparing machinery for production, loading and adjusting CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, and ensuring all tooling and materials are correctly set up prior to machining. The operator is also responsible for maintaining quality standards through ongoing inspection and measurement of components, as well as performing basic maintenance and housekeeping to support continuous production efficiency.
TASKS
The position will require you to perform the following duties:
Machine Set-Up
- Operate CNC machines safely in accordance with SOPs and workplace procedures
- Prepare machines for production, including checking air, vacuum, and coolant systems
- Warm up machines prior to operation
- Load and make minor edits to CNC programs using CAD/CAM software
- Set up tooling, including loading tools into the spindle or tool crib
- Measure tooling using digital callipers and adjust tool offsets as required
- Check and adjust tool heights using machine offset settings
CNC Routers
- Position stops on the machine bed according to program requirements
- Install and position vacuum clamps as per program specifications
- Load materials onto vacuum cups and align against stops
- Ensure materials are securely clamped prior to machining
Production
- Inspect and measure raw materials to ensure compliance with work order specifications
- Identify and avoid defects or imperfections in raw materials
- Load and secure materials for machining operations
- Ensure correct positioning of materials prior to machining processes
- Monitor bridge saw loading operations to ensure correct material handling
Quality Control
- Inspect finished components using measuring tools and jigs
- Ensure all components meet specifications based on workshop drawings
- Label finished components with job numbers for traceability
Maintenance and Safety
- Carry out routine weekly maintenance on CNC machinery
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
- Follow workplace health and safety (OH&S) policies and procedures
ADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS
- Ability to safely operate CNC machinery in a production environment under supervision or standard procedures
- Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software for loading programs and making minor adjustments as required
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, job sheets, and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail in measuring, checking, and ensuring component quality
- Competent use of basic measuring tools such as digital callipers and gauges
- Understanding of CNC machine setup processes, tooling changes, and production workflows
- Awareness and compliance with workplace health and safety (OH&S) requirements
- Ability to follow instructions, work within set procedures, and maintain consistent production output
SALARY
The salary offered will be $65,000 to $80,000 per annum, negotiated based on experience.
