POSITION
We have a full-time role available for a Bar Supervisor in Cairns 4870 QLD
SKILLS
The role requires you to hold at least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Cert III or above and at least one year of relevant work experience. If no relevant qualification, at least 2 years of relevant work experience is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Bar Supervisor, your responsibilities involve overseeing the preparation, mixing and serving of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to our patrons. You will ensure all drinks are made to the correct specifications, maintain cleanliness and presentation standards behind the bar, and provide excellent customer service at all times.
In this role, you will also supervise and support bar staff, assist with training, and ensure smooth day-to-day bar operations. You will be responsible for cash handling oversight, stock control, and ensuring responsible service of alcohol (RSA) compliance is maintained at all times. This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a flexible, hands-on approach to support the team during service.
TASKS
- Supervise, coordinate and oversee bar staff during service, ensuring efficient team performance and high-quality drink service standards are maintained at all times
- Prepare, mix, and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, spirits, beer, wine and espresso-based coffee, while ensuring adherence to venue standards
- Take and oversee customer drink orders in person and from waitstaff, ensuring timely and accurate service in a high-volume environment
- Operate POS systems for transactions and oversee cash handling procedures, including end-of-shift reconciliation and balancing
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation standards across the bar, service stations and coffee-making areas, ensuring staff compliance with procedures
- Wash and polish glassware, restock shelves and fridges, and ensure stock rotation procedures are followed by all team members
- Lead bar opening and closing procedures, including setup, pack down, cash reconciliation and stock counts, ensuring tasks are completed correctly by staff
- Set up and pack down bar stations for daily service and functions (e.g. events, group bookings), delegating tasks as required
- Tap kegs, change gas cylinders and monitor stock levels, reporting shortages or ordering needs to management
- Maintain strong knowledge of beverage lists, seasonal specials and food pairing suggestions to support staff training and service quality
- Upsell premium products and promotions while ensuring responsible service of alcohol (RSA) compliance is strictly followed by all staff
- Monitor guest behaviour and alcohol consumption, ensuring compliance with RSA guidelines at all times and taking corrective action when required
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow and resolve operational issues
- Train, guide and support new and existing bar staff, ensuring adherence to service standards and procedures
- Provide on-shift leadership during peak service periods, functions, or shift changes, ensuring smooth operations and staff coverage

SALARY
The position offers an annual salary of $65,000 - $80,000 negotiated based on your experience.
