About the Organisation

Our Client is a progressive Remote Local Government committed to delivering essential services, community development and meaningful opportunities for its residents.

With a strong focus on cultural preservation, youth engagement and community wellbeing, the organisation has recently invested in a brand new Indigenous Knowledge Centre / Library, creating an exciting opportunity for the right person to shape and lead this important community asset.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and community-minded Librarian / Indigenous Knowledge Coordinator to lead the operations of a newly established Indigenous Knowledge Centre and library facility.

This is far more than a traditional library role. You will play a key part in preserving and celebrating cultural knowledge, delivering community programs, engaging with local stakeholders and creating a welcoming, active space for learning, connection and community development.

A strong focus of the role will be youth engagement, with responsibility for developing initiatives, activities and programs that positively connect with Indigenous youth and support broader community outcomes.

About You

You are a people-focused and culturally aware professional who enjoys community engagement, program coordination and creating welcoming spaces that bring people together.

You will bring:

  • Experience in library services, community development, youth engagement or cultural programming
  • Strong ability to engage positively with Indigenous youth and broader community stakeholders
  • Experience coordinating programs, activities or community initiatives
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative capability
  • Ability to work independently while building strong community connections
  • Genuine passion for cultural preservation, education and community outcomes

Experience working in Indigenous communities, Local Government or remote environments will be highly regarded.
