The Opportunity
A State Government Department is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team on a temporary basis.
This role is responsible for preparing accurate estimates, quotations, tender documentation, and project trade packages across a range of construction, maintenance, and upgrade works. Working within a fast-paced project environment, you will support the delivery of government building programs while assisting with a high volume of estimation requests and ongoing project delivery requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional with strong estimating experience who enjoys working across varied building and maintenance projects within a government environment.

About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing high-quality tender and quotation documentation for building projects
- Preparing accurate estimates, quotations, material lists, trade packages, and construction programs
- Assisting in the planning and delivery of construction, maintenance, and upgrade works undertaken by QBuild
- Providing supervisory support to office staff, field staff, and subcontractors to ensure project delivery outcomes
- Coordinating and undertaking condition assessment services, including inspections and surveys of building elements and construction materials
- Collecting samples of suspected asbestos-containing materials for laboratory testing where required
- Undertaking inspection services, tenancy management services, and maintenance referrals on behalf of Government Employee Housing
- Maintaining compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, employment equity, and anti-discrimination practices
- Applying Safety Management System (SMS) processes, including WHS audits, site inspections, plant and equipment checks, and risk assessment documentation
- Promoting a safe work environment through education, awareness, and collaboration with WHS stakeholders
- Assisting with a high influx of requests for quotations across Department of Education programs and regional project workloads
- Supporting backlog reduction and ongoing estimating requirements within the current project pipeline
- Promoting QBuild products and services to existing and prospective clients while identifying opportunities for future business services
About You
You are an experienced construction estimator with strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities within a busy environment.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience preparing construction estimates, quotations, and tender documentation
- Strong knowledge of building construction and maintenance practices
- Experience interpreting plans, specifications, and project documentation
- Ability to coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders effectively
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to workplace health and safety compliance and best practice
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction Card (White Card)
- Construction industry-related trade qualification (highly desirable)
