POSITION:

We have a full-time position available for a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician in Stuart, QLD 4811.


SKILLS:

You are required to have at least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Diploma or above and at least one year of relevant work experience. At least 3 years of relevant employment experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician is responsible for ensuring all equipment is calibrated and compliant before use, and for performing routine testing and calibrations to support the processing, refining, and research of materials such as metals, ceramics, and polymers. The role involves applying NDT methods including ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and visual inspection, interpreting technical specifications, and conducting inspections to identify and report defects. The technician must ensure all results are accurately recorded and reported in line with relevant standards and company quality systems, while assisting in maintaining NDT procedures and practices. Additional responsibilities include coordinating inspection activities to meet client requirements and adhering to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices.

DUTIES:

  • Ensure all NDT equipment is calibrated, verified and within current certification prior to use, in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform routine process control tests and scheduled calibrations using established NDT techniques, procedures and equipment to support the processing, refining, and/or research of metals, ceramics, polymers, and other materials.
  • Apply a range of non-destructive testing methods, including ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and visual inspection techniques, in line with approved procedures and material-specific requirements.
  • Assist the Technical Director/QA Manager in all aspects related to control of NDT procedures and practices.
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability and consistency of all testing activities by strictly adhering to relevant codes, standards, specifications and documented procedures.
  • Interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and testing procedures to determine appropriate inspection methods and acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare, set up, operate, and maintain NDT equipment, ensuring correct application for the relevant materials and testing environments.
  • Conduct inspections on a variety of materials and components, identifying, evaluating, and documenting defects, discontinuities, or non-conformances.
  • Accurately record, analyse and report test results using approved formats and systems within specified timeframes, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Prepare detailed Work Forms and Inspection Reports within the scope of classification, clearly outlining findings and recommendations.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant documentation in line with company quality systems and industry standards.
  • Coordinate and organise testing and inspection activities to meet client specifications, operational requirements and project timelines.
  • Attend and actively participate in site safety and pre-start meetings, ensuring full compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
  • Apply safe work practices when handling testing equipment and materials.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, training, and certification maintenance to ensure continued competency and compliance with licensing or registration requirements
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities reasonably expected of a Non-Destructive Testing Technician within the scope of their role.
  • Ensure all procedures, record keeping, reporting, and laboratory tasks comply with the requirements of the company’s Mechanical Testing Laboratory and Accreditation by NATA to ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Manual drivers licence and own transport
  • Self motivated with a positive work attitude and a focus on quality, integrity, accuracy and confidentiality
  • Good attention to detail and willingness to provide all required paper work in a timely manner
  • Able to effectively communicate with other team members ensuring information sharing and a cooperative approach to support company objectives
  • Ability to pass relevant vision, drug and other tests
  • Ability to pass client induction requirements.

SALARY

The salary offered will be $75,000 – $85,000 per annum negotiated based on experience.
