Media & Communications Officer – Regional Queensland Council
The Opportunity
A Regional Queensland Council is seeking an experienced Media & Communications Officer to lead the delivery of strategic communications, media engagement and grant coordination activities across the organisation.
This is a diverse and rewarding role responsible for creating engaging content, managing digital communications, supporting community engagement initiatives and identifying grant opportunities that support Council priorities and regional growth.
Working closely with leadership and internal teams, you will help strengthen Council’s public profile while ensuring communication is clear, timely and community focused.

About the Role
You will lead Council’s communications activities while supporting stakeholder engagement and grant funding initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
• Creating engaging content across social media, website, newsletters and media platforms
• Managing Council’s digital presence and communications activities
• Preparing media releases, promotional content and community updates
• Supporting crisis and emergency communications when required
• Capturing photography and videography content for digital platforms
• Identifying and preparing grant applications and funding submissions
• Maintaining grant registers, reporting and acquittals
• Building relationships with community groups, stakeholders and funding bodies
• Supporting internal teams with communication and engagement initiatives
• Monitoring communication effectiveness and identifying improvements
About You
You are a creative and organised communications professional with strong writing skills and the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
You will bring:
• Experience in media, communications, marketing or stakeholder engagement
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience managing digital and social media platforms
• Ability to prepare engaging and community-focused content
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
• Experience with grant applications or funding submissions (highly regarded)
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
• Photography and videography skills
• Local Government or community sector experience
