AO6/1 Project Manager - CQ (Mackay)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of building and construction projects. Working within a high-performing project delivery environment, you will oversee projects from initial planning and design through to construction, completion and handover, ensuring quality outcomes are achieved for clients and stakeholders.

This role will see you managing multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating consultants and contractors, administering contracts, monitoring budgets and schedules, and maintaining strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle. You will also provide leadership and guidance to project teams while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and business performance outcomes.

This position offers exposure to a broad range of building projects and provides the opportunity to work closely with government, industry and community stakeholders to deliver infrastructure that makes a lasting impact.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage building projects from concept planning through to completion and handover
  • Coordinate project planning, design, documentation and construction activities
  • Administer traditional and non-traditional construction contracts
  • Monitor project performance against scope, budget, schedule and quality objectives
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors and project stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
  • Lead negotiations to achieve practical and cost-effective project solutions
  • Prepare project reporting, monitor risks and manage project variances
  • Undertake project audits and performance reviews to ensure successful delivery
  • Mentor and support project staff while promoting quality and continuous improvement practices

About You

You are a proactive and solutions-focused project professional with demonstrated experience delivering building or construction projects in a complex stakeholder environment. You possess strong leadership, communication and contract management skills and are confident managing multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on client outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience managing building, construction or infrastructure projects
  • Strong contract administration and project delivery experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules and resources
  • Experience coordinating consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving capabilities
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Town Planning or a related discipline (highly regarded)
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence or ability to obtain
  • Proficiency with project management and contract administration systems
  • Previous experience delivering government or public sector projects will be highly regarded
