Multi-Skilled Plant Operator / Labourer – Local Government

The Opportunity

A Regional Queensland Council is seeking a motivated Multi-Skilled Plant Operator / Labourer to join its Works and Engineering team.

This is a diverse, hands-on role responsible for operating a variety of plant and equipment while undertaking road maintenance, parks and gardens maintenance, and general labouring duties. Working within a supportive team, you'll help maintain Council's roads, public facilities and open spaces to a high standard while contributing to projects that directly benefit the local community.

About the Role

You will support Council's Works and Engineering team across a wide range of maintenance and construction activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating a variety of plant including skid steer, backhoe, forklift and other equipment
• Undertaking road construction and maintenance activities
• Maintaining parks, gardens, public spaces and Council facilities
• Operating trucks, machinery and hand-held equipment safely and efficiently
• Performing manual labouring tasks as required
• Completing daily plant inspections and maintenance records
• Assisting with traffic control and work site setup
• Working safely in accordance with Council policies and WHS requirements
• Contributing to a positive, team-focused workplace culture

About You

You enjoy working outdoors, take pride in your work and have experience operating plant and equipment in a civil construction or maintenance environment.

You will bring:

• Experience operating civil construction or maintenance plant and equipment
• HR Driver Licence (or ability to obtain)
• Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence
• Construction White Card
• Ability to undertake manual labour and work in varying weather conditions
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Reliable work ethic and ability to work effectively within a team

Highly Regarded:

• Backhoe, skid steer or forklift tickets
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Traffic Management accreditation
• Experience in road maintenance, parks and gardens, or Local Government operations
