Executive Assistant – Local Government


The Opportunity

A Remote Queensland Local Government is seeking an organised and proactive Executive Assistant / Senior Administrator to provide high-level administrative and executive support to the Chief Executive Officer and Mayor.

This is far more than a traditional Executive Assistant role. You'll become a trusted member of the Executive Office, coordinating executive administration, managing key governance records, organising meetings and travel, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the CEO's office. Candidates with experience as a Senior Administrator, Office Manager or Executive Assistant are encouraged to apply.

About the Role

You will provide confidential executive and administrative support across a broad range of organisational activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the CEO's diary, appointments and correspondence
• Providing executive support to the CEO, Mayor and Councillors
• Coordinating meetings, agendas, minutes and executive documentation
• Organising travel, accommodation and event logistics
• Maintaining statutory registers, governance records and Council documentation
• Preparing reports, presentations and executive correspondence
• Assisting with Council events, functions and community engagements
• Liaising professionally with internal and external stakeholders
• Maintaining confidentiality while managing sensitive information
• Supporting the smooth operation of the Executive Office

About You

You are an experienced administration professional who enjoys supporting senior leaders and thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment.

You will bring:

• Experience as an Executive Assistant, Senior Administrator, Office Manager or similar senior administrative role
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience managing confidential information with professionalism and discretion
• High level proficiency across Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
• Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team

Highly Regarded:

• Previous Local Government experience
• Experience supporting senior executives or elected officials
• Qualifications in Business Administration or a related discipline
