Manager Wellbeing & Early Education
The Opportunity
A progressive Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking an experienced Manager Wellbeing & Early Education to lead a diverse portfolio of community wellbeing, early childhood and social support programs.
Based in Cairns, this unique FIFO opportunity offers the best of both worlds. You'll work one week from a dedicated Cairns office followed by one week in community, with all approved travel, accommodation and office facilities provided. This arrangement is expected to continue for approximately six months while additional staff housing is completed.
Reporting to the Executive Manager Community Services, you will provide leadership across a range of community programs while building strong relationships with staff, service providers and community stakeholders to improve wellbeing outcomes.

About the Role
You will lead a multidisciplinary portfolio delivering community wellbeing and early education initiatives that support positive social outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading a diverse portfolio including women's wellbeing, aged care, men's programs, playgroup and early education initiatives
• Supporting continuous improvement across community programs and service delivery
• Managing staff performance, mentoring and team development
• Developing operational plans, budgets and performance reporting
• Building strong partnerships with government agencies, health providers and community organisations
• Monitoring program performance, funding agreements and compliance requirements
• Supporting grant opportunities and service development initiatives
• Promoting culturally appropriate and community-led service delivery
• Ensuring services operate safely and in accordance with relevant legislation and quality standards
About You
You are a compassionate and capable leader who enjoys developing teams and delivering programs that make a genuine difference within regional and remote communities.
You will bring:
• Qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Management or a related
• Demonstrated leadership experience within community, health, wellbeing or early childhood
• Strong people management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience managing programs, budgets and reporting requirements
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Understanding of culturally appropriate service delivery and community engagement
• Current Driver Licence, Blue Card, First Aid Certificate and Police Check (or ability to obtain)
