A full-time Bar Supervisor position is available in Canberra ACT 2601

SKILLS

The role requires you to have at least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate II or III and 1 year of relevant work experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Bar Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing bar operations during service in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment. The role focuses on delivering exceptional beverage service, maintaining strong cocktail execution standards, ensuring efficient bar flow during peak service periods, and supporting a high-energy, guest-focused dining experience.

Restaurant Manager / General Manager

POSITION DUTIES

  • Lead and supervise bar operations during busy service periods to ensure fast, efficient, and high-quality beverage delivery.
  • Maintain a strong focus on speed of service while upholding premium cocktail and beverage presentation standards.
  • Execute and oversee cocktail preparation in line with venue recipes, ensuring consistency, balance, and quality.
  • Support a high-volume, shared-plate dining environment by ensuring drinks are delivered in sync with food service timing.
  • Conduct pre-service briefings covering beverage specials, cocktails, promotions, and service expectations.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, sake, wine, beer, and modern beverage trends.
  • Ensure smooth communication with floor staff and kitchen to coordinate timing and service flow during peak periods.
  • Monitor bar flow and ticket times to ensure efficient service during high-volume periods.
  • Supervise POS operations, ensuring accuracy in orders, billing, and cash handling during busy service.
  • Assist in opening and closing procedures with strong attention to mise en place, bar prep, and end-of-shift clean down.
  • Ensure bar is fully stocked, organised, and prepared for high-volume service at all times.
  • Monitor stock levels of spirits, mixers, garnishes, and glassware; communicate shortages to management promptly.
  • Maintain high standards of bar presentation, cleanliness, and hygiene throughout service.
  • Ensure Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) compliance at all times, including monitoring guest behaviour and managing intoxication issues professionally.
  • Support staff training in cocktail preparation, product knowledge, speed, and upselling techniques.
  • Encourage team members to engage guests confidently and promote premium beverage selections.
  • Assist in implementing seasonal cocktail menus, specials, and beverage promotions.
  • Monitor staff performance during service and provide real-time coaching and support.
  • Work closely with management to maintain consistency in service standards and operational efficiency.
  • Report operational issues, stock concerns, or service challenges promptly to management.
  • Foster a high-energy, team-focused bar culture aligned with a premium casual dining environment.
  • Act as senior bar point of contact during shifts in the absence of management where required.

ADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong cocktail knowledge and hands-on bar execution skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, high-energy service environment.
  • Strong understanding of modern cocktail trends and premium casual dining beverage service.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team coordination skills.
  • Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and high-volume order processing.
  • Strong awareness of service timing, guest experience, and front-of-house flow.
  • Current RSA certification and understanding of liquor licensing requirements.
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and peak trading periods.

SALARY

Annual salary of $75,000 - $90,000 based on experience.
