The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a busy Finance team on a three-month temporary contract.

This role will see you responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll while providing high-quality support to employees and managers. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will ensure payroll compliance, maintain employee records and assist with payroll reporting and enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time
  • Maintain payroll records and employee data
  • Interpret relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements and legislation
  • Respond to payroll enquiries from employees and managers
  • Process leave, allowances and payroll adjustments
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with compliance activities
  • Support the Finance team with payroll-related reporting and administration
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy at all times

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience processing end-to-end payroll
  • Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation and superannuation
  • Experience interpreting Awards and Enterprise Agreements, ideally within Local Government or a similar environment
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict payroll deadlines
  • Experience using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Local Government payroll experience will be highly regarded
