POSITION
We have a full-time position for a Fruit Farm Worker available in Kennedy, Qld 4849.
SKILLS
You must have at least a relevant AQF Cert I or above or at least 12 months of relevant work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Fruit Farm Worker, you will work as part of a team to complete allocated daily tasks efficiently and safely. Duties will vary depending on seasonal conditions, weather, market demands and the farm's production cycle. Responsibilities include planting, cultivating and maintaining banana crops, monitoring crop health, operating irrigation systems, harvesting fruit, and grading, packing and preparing produce for dispatch. The role also involves operating and maintaining farm machinery and infrastructure, assisting with general farm and nursery duties, and following workplace health and safety procedures.
POSITION DUTIE
- Plant, cultivate and maintain banana crops, including planting, weeding, pruning, fertilising and general crop maintenance.
- Monitor crop health and report pest, disease or irrigation issues, assisting with the safe application of herbicides, pesticides and fertilisers where required.
- Operate, monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure optimal crop growth and production.
- Harvest bananas using safe handling techniques to maintain fruit quality and minimise damage.
- Grade, sort, pack, label and prepare bananas for storage, transport and dispatch, including general packing shed duties such as stacking cartons and maintaining cleanliness.
- Operate and carry out routine maintenance of farm machinery, equipment and tools used for cultivation, spraying, harvesting and general farm operations.
- Maintain farm infrastructure, including sheds, fences, irrigation systems and work areas, ensuring they remain clean, safe and operational.
- Assist with nursery activities, including planting, propagation, weeding and general plant care, and perform other general farm duties as directed.
ADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow directions.
- Previous experience in horticulture or agriculture is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety and maintaining quality standards.
SALARY
The salary offered will be $70,000 - $80,000 per annum negotiated based on your experience.
